THE DESIGN PROCESS
Step 1
As a customer, you will have a private appointment with David to discuss your custom piece. David will help guide you in the design process. As part of your experience with us, you will have access to a combination of fine jewelry magazines, catalogs, sketches or renderings to aid you in coming to your final design decision.
At David Liska Custom Jeweler we are committed to keeping pace with jewelry trends and the latest technology in the industry. To that end, we can now utilize CAD (computer aided design) which allows us to take a sketch of your design and produce a computer image from several angles. Adjustments can be made to the virtual CAD model to suit your preferences. The prototype (printing) of the actual model is done at the finest resolution in the industry. One millimeter of height will have over 50 layers in it--a resolution of 0.019mm volumetric pixels! From these detailed renderings we are able to generate an exact 3D model with the same incredible detail and precision.

Step 2
The latest technology allows you to see a computer-aided design rendering every step of the way. This helps you to visualize what your final piece will look like. At this point, if you would like to change an aspect of the design, it can be cost-effectively altered.
After you approve the computer-aided design rendering, a wax model is created. This is an accurate, to-scale model. Gemstones can be placed in the wax model to help you imagine how the finished piece will appear. Once approved, the wax model is cast in a precious metal.
What are renderings?
- Renderings are works of art in themselves which bring a jewelry design to life for the customer.
- Renderings create luminous and life-like images of a jewelry design.
